The Joan and Sanford I. Weill Neurosciences research facility is considered the crown jewel of the UC San Francisco (UCSF) Mission Bay campus – and is the headquarters of one of the largest neuroscience complexes in the world.

The research and treatment facility focuses on neuroscience and psychiatry, and its design reflects a light-filled, human-centered experience that instills a sense of dignity, well-being for all who enter.
Mission Bell sourced European Quartered Fig Sycamore for the panels that line the six-story building, a process which took 15 months to complete. It took 14 logs equaling 154,000 square feet to produce the 38,500 square feet of veneer panels used in this project. Mission Bell’s in-house veneer production department was paramount to achieving the desired design by Cavagnero Associates.
